All visitors are responsible for and must have valid travel documents and identification to enter Canada, such as a passport or visa. These items are your responsibility, but to help ensure your travel to Toronto is as smooth as possible, we’ve compiled some important information about obtaining a visa for your stay. Please read the details below and start your visa application process well in advance.
American citizens do NOT need a visa to enter Canada, however if you are a citizen of another country a VISA may be required. Please see below for visa information. If a visa is required, we encourage you to begin your visa application immediately to allow for the maximum processing time. You can register for the conference now.
Visa Information: Steps to Obtain Your Visa if Required

Check Visa Requirements: Before applying, verify if you need a visa to enter Canada based on your nationality. Visit the Government of Canada’s official visa website to find out if you require a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
NOTE: If you have a U.S. passport, you do not need a visa. No further steps are required.Note: Visa-required individuals may be required to submit fingerprints and a photo (biometrics) to acquire their visa for travel to Canada. (People who require only an eTA do not need to provide biometrics. Travelers who normally require a visa will also need to provide a biometric.)

Gather Required Documents: Prepare the necessary documents for your visa application, which typically include:
A valid passport
Proof of conference registration or invitation letter
Evidence of sufficient funds for your stay
Travel itinerary and accommodation details
Any additional documents specific to your visa type
Submit Your ApplicationFor TRV: Apply online or at a Canadian visa office in your country. Visit the Canada Immigration website for detailed instructions.
For eTA: Apply online through the eTA application portal.

Visa processing times can vary. Check the estimated processing times on the Government of Canada’s website and apply as early as possible to avoid any delays.

An invitation letter may be required. Conference attendees registered to attend the conference and paid in full can request a letter of invitation for visa applications.
Please request your letter of invitation for the Annual Conference 2025 in Toronto by September 1, 2025. The visa application process can take several months, so please apply for a visa as early as possible.
Guidelines:Invitation letters will be issued to attendees who have registered for the full conference.
Invitation letters will be emailed as PDFs to attendees. Hard copies cannot be mailed.
If a visa is denied, The Forum will refund your registration fee according to our Refund/Cancellation Policy.
All expenses associated with the conference are the responsibility of the attendee.
The Conference is unable to assist with the visa process beyond providing the invitation letter.
Your request will be reviewed by Conference staff. Please allow 2 weeks to receive a response. The conference reserves the right to decline the request for a letter of invitation. Your request for a letter of invitation does not guarantee that you will receive a visa.
