MONA Board Call for Nominations
MONA is opening a call for nominations for the following positions, all of which will start January 1, 2026:
President Elect (elected position)
Secretary (elected position)
Board Members (3) (elected position)
Community Member liaison (elected position)
Society liaison (appointed by the Board of Directors)
Social Media Liaison (appointed by the Board of Directors).
Please see below for details on the submissions. The Deadline for nomination submissions will be April 1st, 2025. Voting for elected positions will take place between May and June 1st, 2025. Results will be posted by July 1st.
The following is required for nomination per the MONA constitution:
Nominees are required to submit a Curriculum Vitae, Conflict of Interest Statement, a statement of vision for their role in the Society and an optional recent photograph.
For ELECTED POSITIONS ONLY - Nominations for all elected Board Members must be supported by two members of the Society and confirmed in writing or by email by the nominee. The support from the members of the Society should be in writing - in the form of a letter (1-page is sufficient).

ROLE DESCRIPTIONS
President Elect (Term of Service 2026-2027 2-year term)
The President-Elect will serve on the Board for a period of two years before becoming President for 2 years. Thus, when elected as President Elect the candidate understands that they will serve for a period of four years.
Participate in monthly teleconference with Officers and Board members. All Officers are expected to attend 8 of the 12 yearly meetings and can be removed from the Board for noncompliance. Extraordinary circumstances will be excepted.
Work closely with the President, who will delegate tasks as needed.
Chair meetings in the absence of the President.
Assist the President with arrangements and tasks as delegated to support the biennial Conference.
Serve as Chair of the Governance Committee which will update and develop policy guidelines for the Society.
Secretary (Term of Service 2026-2029 4-year term, 1 term)
Participate in monthly teleconference with Officers and Board members. All Officers are expected to attend 8 of the 12 yearly meetings and can be removed from the Board for noncompliance. Extraordinary circumstances will be excepted.
Work closely with the President, who will delegate tasks as needed.
Take board meeting minutes
Assist the President with arrangements and tasks as delegated in order to support the biennial Conference.
Work with Management team for materials in newsletter including Member of the Month highlight and Paper of the Month
Board Members-at Large (3) positions available;( Term of Service 2026-2029 Board Members 4 years, renewable once)
Participate in monthly teleconference with Officers and Board -members. All Board Members are expected to attend 8 of the 12 yearly meetings and can be removed from the Board for noncompliance. Extraordinary circumstances will be excepted.
Oversee a portfolio of responsibilities/tasks/projects for the advancement of MONA.
Manage affiliate relationships as directed by the President.
Participate in additional special projects as developed by the Officers and Board Members.
Community Member Liaison (Term of Service Community Member Liaison 4 years, Renewable)
Is a representative of the advocacy community and will be knowledgeable about advocacy efforts pertaining to perinatal mental health policies, acts, or legislation in North America.
The Community Representative will be responsible for detailed communication and facilitation of BOD voting for MONA to partner or "sigh-on" for advocacy efforts that are consistent with MONA's mission.
The Community Member Liaison has full voting rights on the Board and is expected to attend 8 of the 12 monthly Board Meeting. The community member liaison may be elected to serve a term of 4 years and may be elected to serve up to two terms, but not consecutively.
Society Liaison (1 position available, Term of Service 2026-2029, 4-year term, Renewable)
A member who functions as the bi-directional liaison with other pertinent societies such as the International Marcé Society, North American Society for Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology, and other organizations related to our mission will participate on the Board.
This Board position shall be called the Society Liaison and will be appointed by the President pending no objections from the Board.
The Society Liaison will serve as the point person for communications and requests from other organizations and may, at times, attend their Board meetings upon request.
The Society Liaison will not have voting privileges for Board decisions but will attend Board meetings regularly and is expected to attend at least 6 of the 12 monthly meetings.
The Society Liaison shall serve a four-year term and may serve up to two terms at the discretion of the Board. These terms may be served consecutively.
Social Media Liaison (1 position available, Term of Service 2026-2029, 4 year term, Renewable)
A member who will oversee the execution of social media strategies for the Society, the “Social Media Liaison,” will be appointed by the President pending no objections from the Board.
The Social Media Liaison will not have voting privileges for Board decisions but will attend Board meetings regularly and is expected to attend at least 6 of the 12 monthly meetings.
The term of service will be for four years and each Liaison may serve up to two terms at the discretion of the Board. These terms may be served consecutively.
